BLANCHET HOUSE

Blanchet House provides hope and hospitality for people living on the streets in Portland, OR. Blanchet called on JP Fundraising Solutions to explore the feasibility of a campaign to build its first-ever shelter for women and to renovate its nationally renowned residential farm program in rural Oregon for men overcoming drug and alcohol addiction. The study concluded with a green light, and set the nonprofit on course for a successful campaign.

COMPREHENSIVE LIFE RESOURCES

CLR brought in JP Fundraising Solutions to help it with a unique problem. They are one of the largest nonprofit providers of mental health services in the Puget Sound region but have flown virtually under the radar since its founding in 1971. They were in the process of moving to a new location in downtown Tacoma and needed to raise $3 million toward the effort. With virtually no donor list, we worked to develop a highly tailored approach to introduce CLR to the funding community, form a campaign committee and launch a campaign.

KNKX

JP Fundraising Solutions is working with KNKX on its third capital campaign. It all began in 2015 when then-KPLU was put up for sale by its parent organization, Pacific Lutheran University. In a short five months, we worked with staff, volunteers and the community to raise $7 million to buy its independence, re-incorporating as KNKX, one of the most listened-to public radio stations in the country. JPFS also has helped with campaigns to relocate its Tacoma studios to downtown and its Seattle studios to the Pike Place Market district.

THE OVERLAKE SCHOOL

JP Fundraising Solutions is supporting The Overlake School in its $35 million campaign to build two new academic facilities and add to its financial aid endowment. James has worked with the school through the early stages of its campaign, and it is the firm’s longest running client. The school is now in the last phase of its three-phase campaign.

TACOMA RESCUE MISSION

TRM turned to JP Fundraising Solutions to determine if it could raise $25 million to develop a unique, supportive-village approach to serve the community’s chronically homeless population (people living on the streets for two or more years). Modeled after a similar program in Austin, TX, JPFS wrote the case for support and tested the campaign. We gave TRM the green light for an $18 million effort, which is awaiting matching support from Pierce County before launching.

UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND

University of Portland needed short-term interim staffing to help with its effort to raise funds for a new Center for Design and Innovation on its campus. Part of its School of Engineering, the new center will bring design principles to the entire UP community, integrating the sciences, humanities and the arts for a truly unique collaborative approach to education. James worked with the Vice President of Development to develop messaging, contact volunteers and present a series of webinars with School of Engineering alumni.

WASHINGTON’S NATIONAL PARK FUND

WNPF is the nonprofit organization providing philanthropic support to the state’s three national parks: Mount Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades. JP Fundraising Solutions is working with the group on messaging, volunteer engagement and donor strategy as part of its campaign to fund endowments supporting the three parks and a series of special projects designed to bring a more diverse array of visitors to the parks and work more closely with native tribes in telling the history of the parks.

UPPER VALLEY MEND

JPFS is conducting a planning study on behalf of Upper Valley MEND (Meeting Each Need with Dignity), which is THE social services provider for Leavenworth, WA, and the upper Wenatchee Valley. The study is testing philanthropic support to purchase 31 rental units and turn them into permanent affordable workforce housing. The community is a popular tourist destination and landing spot for people relocating from the Puget Sound region, greatly escalating home values, which have priced out a large segment of the population. If successful, the campaign will provide a major step forward in addressing the affordable housing crisis.
